Laced Up

Ever since I saw the Tony Bianco "Ariette" lace up boots featured in the Alex Perry runway show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, I was determined to have them. They kept popping up on my Instagram timeline on the likes of Emily B. and other fashionable celebrities. A popular brand, Zigi Girl, made a version for Bakers Shoes, but unfortunately they stopped at size 11. I did some research and found them on AliExpress (search thigh high lace up boots). After trial and error, ordering a pair that didn't fit and reordering a pair in a bigger size, I finally was happy with them. I purchased the faux leather ones, which look more expensive. I debuted the shoes last night and I learned these aren't made for partying! I'll probably save these for upcoming photoshoots. I paired the thigh high boots with a mini leopard dress from one of my fav boutiques, Chic and Curvy. Kept the look simple with a MAC nude lip and my infamous dark eyes.

Here are a few things to remember: purchase additional shoelace (you'll run out if you have bigger calves and thighs), go a size up, and they are not comfy. It took me a while until I found some shoelace that matched the original ones that came with the shoes, I had to get a size 13, and because they're single soled they are not comfortable in the least and your toes slide out the front. Not to mention it takes like 20 minutes to just unlace and lace them back up.

Luv Ur Curves Fashion Show

I had the wonderful pleasure to host Luv Ur Curve's, an organization on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University, "A Sassy, But Classy Fashion Show" last Thursday. My co-host was AKOO clothing model, Oshea Da Model, who was the best co-host ever. These ladies definitely have beat adversity and turned doubters into believers. This fashion show displayed to their student body that sexy has no dress size and every woman can be sexy regardless of their size. Models from the organization and an off-campus modeling troupe rocked fashions from Ashley Stewart, Luxe Vain Boutique, and more. Check out all the behind the scenes fun!

CIAA 2014

Last week was the infamous CIAA in Charlotte, which is full of partying! The CIAA basketball tournament brings students, alumni, and mere party goers from across the country to Charlotte. I didn't attend any of the basketball games, but did party Tuesday through Sunday in style. In the midst of rumors that CIAA was relocating to Atlanta, it was announced at the conclusion of the tournament that Charlotte is home to the tournament for another six years. Enough of the politics, here's what I wore.

Meet The Girl Behind The Blog

My first meet and greet event last Sunday was a huge success! Attendees sipped on wine and cucumber lemon water, snacked on sweet desserts and fruits, and shopped some of the hottest trends at House of Chanel Boutique. This was the perfect shopping event for ladies to get their outfits togethr for CIAA. There were also vendors selling jewelry and the popular waist training corsets. I had such a great time mingling with new and old friends. I felt so much love and support, which is the best feeling in the world. The beautiful moments were captured by friend and photographer, Rickey D. I wore a mixed print outfit - multi-colored snakeskin body con dress paired with leopard heels. Only bigger and better things in store for Diary of a Fatshionista!
