One Scarf Six Girls

I've been so honored to be part of something extraordinary called "One Scarf Six Girls." If you've read the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants or seen the movie, then you'll get the idea. Five other notable plus size women and myself have created such an amazing bond, hence the creation of this movement. We each rock  this leopard Zulu scarf from FOC by Flaws of Couture adding our own flavor and then pass it to the next. I am the third to receive the scarf and I decided to wear mine to dinner last night. I snapped a few photos in the Center City Park in downtown Greensboro before a delicious dinner at Lucky 32. I kept my outfit simple to keep the focus on the oversized scarf. I wore a black blazer and velvet leggings both from Torrid, a white Old Navy v-neck, and suede wedge booties from Nine West. I pulled my hair back into a messy bun and played up my eyes in navy and teal hues paired with a nude lip. Accessories were kept simple - gold Michael Kors watch, lion door knocker earrings, and a vintage Dooney and Bourke bag. This was such a fun experience and I can't wait to see how the other ladies style the scarf. You can purchase this Zulu scarf or other fun styles at www.focapparel.storenvy.com.

See how Chante, owner of Everything Curvy and Chic Boutique, and Shaina, owner of Out of the Corner Boutique, wore the scarf.

Living In Black and White

I've been itching to wear this ASOS Rocco print dress borrowed from a friend. I stepped out Thursday night despite feeling under the weather. I am absolutely in love with black and white print and the long sleeve midi dress trend. I've received a lot of questions about ASOS sizing recently. This dress is from the main line and is a US size 12. Remember that anything with elastane or Spandex will provide extra stretch, so don't be afraid of shopping the straight sizes. I partnered the dress with black suede wedge booties from Nine West. Keeping the focus on the playful print dress, teal accessories and an orange lip added a pop of color. Rocking my natural hair for now, but I miss my long Kardashian tresses.

Fatshionista Files: Rochelle

Rochelle, a current Little Rock, Arkansas resident, has such feminine and elegant style. Her look is always so polished and flawless. Rochelle's killer curves and confidence are the perfect accessory to any outfit. Exemplifying a fatshionista, this gorgeous gal's journey to confidence is quite inpsiring.

"I've always been the biggest girl in my class, pretty much all my life. I used to wear big jackets and sweaters to cover up my extra large hips and butt. It wasn’t until I was in college that I started to embrace my curves and started to encourage others to do the same."
Describe your personal style.
I have a really wide range of things I like. I typically like a polished look. I am very girly but I also love the boho look. I have areally wide range of things I like. I love a slouchy sweater with leggings and boots(my winter staple outfit). Every season I have a staple outfit that you can catch me in at least once a week in that season.

Where are your favorite places to shop?
I love ASOS and Forever 21. My newest discovery is Kmart. I love their LYS brand.

What does being a fatshionista mean to you?
A fatshionista expresses her true self and is not worried about what others think. Just because I'm big doesn't mean I can't wear short dresses. A fatshionista does not accept the insecurities that society tries to place on her. Instead she wears her short dresses proud and is unapologetic about her size or what she is wearing.

What's your advice to other plus size girls?
My advise to other plus size girls is to comfortable with themselves. When you are comfortable in your skin you don't worry about what others think about you. You can just enjoy being yourself.

Where do you draw fashion inspiration?
I draw inspiration from current trends. I also draw a lot of inspiration from plus size bloggers, Gabi Fresh, Diary of a Fatshionista, and Girl With Curves.

What's your best kept beauty secret?
Spanx
What's your favorite piece in your wardrobe?
There are so many things in my wardrobe I love. The first thing that comes to my mind is my Michael Kors tan colored moto leather jacket. It's so versatile and comfy!

What's a trend you foresee/love for the fall?
I love the sneaker wedge. I also love the deep wine/ burgundy colored lip.

What’s something that the fashion industry should know about plus size women?
We are not trying to cover ourselves up. We want the same clothes you design for skinny girls, just in a larger size.

Stay connected with Rochelle.

Vloggin'

Hi ladies! I've been on the fence about entering the YouTube vlogging world. You all have been pushing me to upload videos on OOTDs, hauls, makeup tutorials, and much more. I want everything done right, so I'm going to invest in a camera to record fabulous videos. Until then my iPhone 4 works just fine, so enjoy my random ramblings. Thanks for all of your continued support and love. Don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel.

GHOE 2012

I celebrated my second alumni homecoming over the weekend with my two girlfriends Crystal and Yves. I was so excited to share this legendary event, GHOE aka Greatest Homecoming on Earth, with them and allow them to take a glance at a HBCU homecoming. We partied hard Friday and Saturday capturing moments I'll remember for the rest of my life. Both weekends we partied free of charge at Lotus Lounge thanks to my great friend Adolph Shiver. Friday night, one of my favorite rappers Yo Gotti rocked a packed club. I wore my black and white color blocked Forever 21+ dress with silver accents, bone straight hair, and green Kaoir lipstick. The dress was so soft, comfortable, and fit like a glove. The finale day consisted of "the yard," which was crowds of alumni, students, locals, and out of towners and yet another VIP club night. My day outfit is my favorite outfit to date. I ordered each piece of this outfit and it was Christmas each day receiving all my packages in the mail last week. I wanted to go for a urban streetwear look inspired by Rihanna and Teyana Taylor. A bold graphic tee, distressed shorts, suspender leggings, chunky costume clip-ons, and Timberland boots completed made for a casual chic look. My black mesh dress Saturday night was gifted from Voluptuous Vixen Boutique. Adding some Kim Kardashian curls, dark eyes, and a baby pink MAC lip kept everything sexy. This was the best homecoming I've ever experienced and I had the best time ever with my friends. I felt so proud to be an alumna of North Carolina A&T State University. AGGIE PRIDE!

Below you can find where I got the pieces to my day outfit.
