Coat Check

I was so excited when I got my big box of love from Torrid a few days ago.I can't wait to wear some of the other items! Enclosed was this amazing army green twill jacket with a fur collar. I didn't know the jacket had thick, tartan print lining inside. I love, love, love this jacket. It's enough grunginess, but the fur adds that girly flair I have to possess. Yesterday was a really chill day - errands, mall, dinner, and Real Housewives of Atlanta. I always say it never matters what's underneath your coat in the winter as long as you have on a bomb coat and sickening boot. After all, that's all people see. I wore my jacket with black leggings and the Tasha over-the-knee boots, also from Torrid. They're a tad big around my calves, but I love how they're structured and don't slouch.

Love To Watch Her Leave

Something was telling me that the night wasn't going to go as planned. I was right! For one, I never get to the club before midnight. I just can't do it. I don't like to be in the club for more than an hour and a half. Secondly, I like to take my time getting dressed, listen to music, apply extra coats of mascara, make sure I have everything in my clutch. We were rushing to get to this graduation party before 11, but I didn't even leave my house until 10:47. We get there and it's a moshpit down the street of clubgoers trying to get in. I was already over it and knew I was not going to play the wait outside game. So after standing outside for about 10 minutes, I chucked the deuces and made way for my car. Along the way, I was able to snap a few photos of my outfit. I didn't really like this outfit because it was cream and black, which looks so uniform and boring. The top is from Old Navy and it has these silk panels all along the front. Really feminine and flirty. I love my fishnet tights from Torrid, which I will be wearing again very soon. Turns out I had the tights on backwards because the seam was supposed to be in the rear! A night wasted. No more partying until New Years Eve.

Other exciting updates...
I purchased a domain name and I'm now! I made the big transition to being .com instead of! This was a big decision for me because I wanted the timing to be right. Now it's official.

I can't say thank you enough for Skorch Magazine featuring me in their December issue "Bloggers To Watch" article. I'm on page 43! Check it out!

Free As A Bird

I was so excited when I received my bright yellow bundles of love in my mailbox from Forever 21 containing my Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases. The black dove cardigan was initially snug around the top of my arms, but as the night progressed I realized it fit just right. The sleeves have a button feature on the outside if you want to make it short sleeved. The lime body con skirt surprised me because the material was a quality and thick. I hit the streets last night, so I paired the two together with a black burnout tank that I got from Old Navy years ago and my Nine West "Aroundtown" suede wedges. How do I look?

Black Friday & Cyber Monday Finds

I'm planning a trip to Atlanta for New Years eve, so I bought a few key pieces online yesterday and today. Hotel reservations are made, now I just need fabulous clothing to put the icing on the cupcake. I'm really organized when it comes to trips because of the plethora of lists I write. I have a list of clothes that need to be purchased. My trip is going to be filled with good food, club nights, and amazing company.

It's so hard for me to find fashionable heels without crying at the price tag. I was so ecstatic to see that Bakers Shoes had the "Melina" in my size for less than $70 and in different colors. I tried the size 11 on at the store and it was a little snug, so I ordered the 12 in black suede.

Bakers "Melina"

I've been really impressed with Forever 21+'s dress selection online. Unlike other plus size designers, 21+ knows how to keep it sexy, form fitting, and on trend. I think I'll wear this dress on Sunday night in Atlanta.

Lurex-Blend Asymmetrical Bandage Dress
This open cardigan has been in my wishlist for a few months now and I was so surprised that it was still available. I had to snatch it up immediately. I can dress this up and dress it down. I can't wait to wear this.

Peace Dove Open Cardigan

I learned my lesson with Forever 21+ skirts. Never order your size, go down one size. After reading the reviews, buyers said the skirt is lime/fluorescent yellow, which is exactly what I want. This would look great paired with a black sheer shirt, oversized envelope clutch, and my "Melina" heels.

Fatshionista Files: Aryn

Last year, over 4,000 young women entered Torrid’s House of Dreams Model Search. Aryn was one of the six finalists who were selected. She won a luxurious trip to Los Angeles were she (and the rest of the winners) were photographed in the season's fashions. This 21-year senior, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, embodies both brains and beauty. Pursuing a modeling career post-graduation, Aryn is sure to be the next Crystal Renn. I can't wait to see her grace the glossy pages of Harper's Bazaar, Essence, and Vogue.

Describe your personal style.
I would describe my style as being feminine, chic and bold. I think when I'm getting dressed I always mix very simple items with other bold pieces. I don't like to really categorize myself into a certain group because many times I find myself really liking different kinds of items whether they are chic, classic, avant-garde, etc. (you know, items that seem to fit into the typical "style categories"). I love prints, colors and glamorous items that add a little luxury to my outfit.

Where do you shop?
I shop at a variety of stores from straight-size to plus-size. My favorites include Nordstrom, Forever 21, Akira, H&M, ASOS and Torrid.

What does being a "fatshionista" mean to you?
Being confident in your curves! Fatshionistas continue to be stylish despite what society may think about her size.

What's your advice to plus-size girls?
My main advice is to try it on! For as long as I can remember, I have always been one to really try any garment on even when the numbers don't agree with your standard size. You'll be surprised at how things will fit and might end up walking out a store with a bag full of amazing items.

Where do you draw fashion inspiration?
I'm naturally a people observer, and I tend to be inspired by them no matter where I am. I enjoy noticing how I might see the same top on 3 different people but they are all wearing it differently. Designers that I really pay close attention to are Rachel Roy for her sense of femininity, Angela Simmons for her evolving eclectic style and high-end designers like Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs for their innovative use of construction.

What's your best beauty secret?
Mascara & bronzer are two items I live by! Most days out of the week I'm just going to class so you'll find me adding a little extra glow to my face by use of these two items. If you're not in the mood to pack on the make-up, I think you can enhance the freshness of your face by just using these in the morning. But when I'm feeling dressy, I gravitate towards bold colors. I am obsessed with lipstick! I have a growing collection. During this time of the year, I am really into darker tinted lipsticks such as dark purple and hues of orange that fit into the fall season.

What do you feel the most sexiest in?
I would have never said this years ago, but I feel most sexiest in my heels. I'm 5'10 and it took me a while to get over the fact that I may tower over the boys. I feel really sexy when I'm wearing something casually dressy but when I throw on a pair of high heels, I can walk in a room extremely confident.

What's your favorite piece in your wardrobe?
My favorite piece in my wardrobe is actually a dress that I have yet to wear. It's a vintage multi-colored sequin dress that needs a little tailoring but I think it will be amazing for the perfect occasion! I found it two summers ago at ReDress NYC, a plus-size vintage shop in Brooklyn.

What’s a quote you live by?

"Don't kill your dreams, execute them.”

What’s a trend you love for the fall?
Fringed clothing! I also recently have just spotted some shoes with a very cute fringe tassle hanging from it that I'm in love with. My other must-haves include collar necklaces and flowy chiffon shirts.

Call The Paparazzi On Myself

I always wonder how many club pictures I have floating around on the internet. I remembered that a photographer snapped some pictures of Preston and I last Wednesday at Inferno in Greensboro, so I scoured the internet until I found them. The anticipation and my nerves get to frazzled when I'm searching through an album to find my picture. (Sometimes photographers won't put all the photos online) Then VOILA, there they were. I've been asked if I've been losing weight. I don't really see it. I think it's all the black I've been wearing. Black is my attire for the winter.

"Nails done, hair done, everything did." I'm listening to Drake's "Fancy" as I type this blog post because that's exactly how I felt in these pictures. On Saturday, I went to the Mix Martini Bar for a friend of a friend's birthday party and then to Lotus Lounge to hang with my friend, Crystal.

Dress: Forever 21+ - Clutch: Jessica Simpson - Shoes: Nine West - Earrings: Belle Boss Jewelry

I wore the Nine West "Kickstart" all weekend. Every fatshionista must have a suede wedge in her closet for the fall. Nine West had an insane sale - 30% to 50% off of select shoes. These were originally $119 and I scored them for $88.

Fall Favorites

This fall I only want to wear 3 things: leggings, thigh high boots, and open blazers. I initially hated this blazer when I first tried it on at Torrid, but on a different store visit, I tried it on again and fell in love. If you know me, I'm not a big fan of jeans. That's going to change soon because I know I can't wear leggings winter long. It's so hard for me to find jeans that have a comfy fit, long hem, and makes my butt look good.

eloquii Newsletter

A few weeks ago the Communications Manager from eloquii by The Limited e-mailed me and asked if they could quote me in their newsletter. My answer was of course! I was so ecstatic to be apart of something so big (no pun intended) for the plus-size fashion industry. The line debuts in five days! If you haven't read the newsletter yet, click the picture below.

The Greatest Homecoming on Earth

I celebrated my first homecoming as an alumni. My alma mater, North Carolina A&T State University, dubbed the hashtag #GHOE (Greatest Homecoming on Earth). If you have never experienced a homecoming at a historically black college or university, then you are missing out. I wouldn't trade the HBCU experience for anything in this world. I was sick this entire week, so I only partied Friday and Saturday. I didn't take too many pictures because I STILL do not have a camera. I snapped a few pictures from my Evo. I wore my black bandage dress from Forever 21+ that I featured in an old blog post. I was so nervous about the fit from the comments on the post. It was tight in the bust area, but Spanx smoothed out the tummy area. I had an amazing weekend - looking and feeling fabulous.
